A quieter kind of morning
Share
There is a version of the morning that belongs entirely to you — before the notifications pile in, before the first message, before the day becomes something you have to manage.
It is short. maybe ten minutes. sometimes five. but it exists, and most of us skip it without knowing we did.
The quietest hour is the one before you remember you have things to do.
The ritual is not complicated. water first — cold, from a glass you filled the night before. then light. open the curtains before you reach for the phone. stand in it for a moment. that is the whole thing
What we leave out
it is not about productivity. it is not a hack. it is just a small act of choosing yourself over the feed, for a few minutes, before everything begins. that's the practice.

light, water, stillness — in that order
some people add tea. some write three lines in a notebook — not reflections, just whatever surfaces. none of it needs to be meaningful. the meaning is in the pause itself.
five minutes of nothing is not wasted time. it is the only time that is entirely yours.
Try it tomorrow. set the glass of water tonight. open the curtains before the phone. see what the room looks like in the first light.
